The Natural Path Clinic

Natural path clinic

Dr. Brenda Gill is a speaker, writer and female natural medicine doctor. With over 20 years of experience, she focuses on solving health issues rather than providing a band-aid solution. She became interested in naturopathic medicine after she witnessed her father’s treatment for colon cancer and felt there must be better way. Brenda then made the huge leap from teaching high school to being a student herself. After graduating, she wanted to live in an area that was vibrant, had small town caring & involvement and access to outdoor activities… so Rossland it was!

Dr. Brenda’s amazing ability to connect ALL the pieces of information that make up a person’s unique situation is the key to getting clients to feel the way they want to feel. People describe Dr. Brenda as a smart cookie. She’s known for giving the best specific tools and strategies that work while coaching with compassion and understanding.  Her solutions have amazed clients at how quickly they turn around.

As a regular contributor to the Rossland Telegraph, the Trail Times, and the Nelson Daily, Dr. Brenda is always looking for interesting topics to feature in her articles or talk shows. Herself and her work have been featured in many health magazines such as HANS and have been aired on the station CJLY-FM. At a local college, she often teaches “How to” courses as well.

She’s been answering health questions for over 20 years, but her commitment is to accurately inform the public. She doesn’t just believe in giving fantastic solutions, she wants them to make educated decisions and take charge of their health. Dr. Brenda will do everything in her power to create a healthy, pro-active client that has the energy to take on the world!

Canadian Mental Health Association for the Kootenays

canadian mental healthThe Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) branches across Canada provide a wide range of innovative services and support to people who are experiencing mental illness and their families. These services are tailored to the needs and resources of the communities where they are based. One of the core goals of these services is to help people with mental illness develop the personal tools to lead meaningful and productive lives.

CMHA Kootenays was historically involved with the Trail Chamber in order to connect with local employers. They no longer provide employment services in the Trail area, so they rely on the Chamber for support and promotion.

CMHA Kootenays is offering two important training sessions to communities in both the East and West Kootenay region: the Applied Suicide Intervention Skills and Training (ASIST) workshop and the safeTALK workshop. The ASIST workshop is 2 full days, whereas the safeTALK workshop is just a ½ day. Both training sessions require between 8 and 30 participants, and dates and times are flexible.

It would be ideal if most members of a community attended either ASIST or safeTALK training to learn these suicide intervention and suicide alert skills. They hope and believe that both workshops can contribute to suicide-safer communities. This is the beginning of such a great opportunity to make a difference in communities across the East and West Kootenays.

For more information on fees and booking, please contact Patricia Whalen, the Regional Gatekeeper Coordinator for the CMHA Kotenays at 250-426-5222 ext. 3124 or pwhalen@cmhakootenays.org.

Trail Home Hardware Building Centre

home hardware

After running five stores for the previous owners for five years, Patti and Kelly decided to purchase the stores in 2013. They believe the Trail Home Hardware Building Centre is definitely a jewel in their store group. As absentee owners, they are proud to rely on a very  knowledgeable team, including an experienced and driven Manager, Tim Harding.

On May 28th, Trail Home Hardware will be hosting their 6th annual trade show with over 50 vendors. Each vendor will display and demonstrate their product line. There will be tons or raffles with around $10,000 in giveaways that day. This has proved to be one of the biggest events in the Kootenays and this year will be no exception.

The big news right now is that Trail Home Hardware is in the planning stages of a proposed expansion. This expansion will include a 7000 sqft addition to the store, as well as an 18,000 sqft covered lumber yard. With the success Trail Home Hardware has had over the past few years, they feel this expansion is a must going forward. They will be supplying their customers with everything they need from start to finish. This expansion will keep customers shopping locally.
