Becoming a Trusted Advisor by Jeff Mowatt

Smart business people know that your options to stand out in the marketplace are limited… cut prices? Not very profitable. Improve product quality? Certainly, but that can take substantial time and money. The fastest, most cost-effective way to differentiate yourself is to focus on your service. Customer service can no longer be merely average or simply friendly; it needs to be remark-able. That means you and your team members need to be seen as Trusted Advisors. Here’s your opportunity to make that happen for your team…

About this half day seminar

Micro-Business Training (MBT) Program

MBT-Enhanced-3As business owners are you looking to upgrade your skills? Marketing? Social Media? Data Base Management? Sales Management? Websites?

$1000 Available To You

Thanks to active advocacy by the Trail and District Chamber of Commerce and other Chambers throughout B.C., the reach and impact of a training program for micro-business owners has been increased.

The province has provided funds to extend the Micro-Business Training (MBT) program for 2014, with funding for approximately 550 more candidates. Micro-businesses are defined as having fewer than five employees.

But while the previous iteration of the program limited eligibility to micro-business owners with no post-secondary education, Chamber advocacy has succeeded in broadening the program’s reach in 2014.

This year, the program includes:
274 spots for micro-business owners under the old criteria (which stipulated, among other requirements, no post-secondary education); and
274 spots for micro-business owners who meet basic program criteria but have a post-secondary education. Due to high numbers of applications, the openings for the post-secondary education spots have been filled. Please feel free to apply in order to be put on a waiting list.

The MBT program have started accepting applications now.
Participants are chosen on a first-come, first-serve basis. DO NOT DELAY AND BE DISAPPOINTED.

TrailBroadbandThe Trail and District Chamber of Commerce, as part of the Trail Broadband Committee, is pleased to inform the merchants of downtown Trail that applications for fibre optic service within the current service area are now being accepted by the City of Trail. The application must be signed by the applicant and property owner prior to March 31, 2014 to receive the connection at no charge. Business owners in downtown Trail who do not own their building must contact their landlord to obtain written consent. Further details and applications for service can be found on the City of Trail website:  Click here

About the Trail Broadband Committee.

The Trail Broadband Committee (TBC) formed in October 2013 and consists of downtown Trail business owners and economic development advocates.  As a committee our goal is to inform, educate and encourage all downtown business owners to explore how their business can benefit from Trail’s new communications infrastructure.   A second committee goal is to aid in attracting new technology firms to Trail.
