Administrative Assistant, Summer Student Position

The Trail & District Chamber of Commerce (TDCOC) is seeking an enthusiastic student to join our team for the summer.  The TDCOC is a strategic partner and a valuable resource for businesses in our thriving community. Job Description:

The position will commence the last week of June for a period of 8 weeks and is anticipated to require 30 hours per week. The main duties of the Administrative Assistant include but are not limited to:  conducting in-person and/or phone interviews and online surveys, compiling data and creating reports.  You will also assist with the creation of slide show presentations, infographs, and social media feeds.  Occasionally, you will be required to draft letters with the predetermined topics directed to the business community and stakeholders.  You will also assist with keeping the office organized and maintaining office supplies.


Job Skills & Requirements:

  • This position requires that you utilize your own laptop and cell phone
  • Digital skills – digital technology refers to the skills needed to understand and use digital systems, tools and applications, and to process digital information.  Use digital technology skills to input, access, analyze, organize, create and communicate information and ideas, software, email, web applications, smart phones and other digital devices.
  • Experience with event organization and execution
  • Accurate, detail oriented
  • Superior time management, written, and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated customer service skills are an asset
  • Knowledge of business community in the City of Trail and the surrounding districts is an asset
  • Must be a full-time post-secondary student, returning in fall 2021, AND
  • between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment
  • is a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act*
  • legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial / territorial legislation and regulations


* International students are not eligible. Recent immigrants are eligible if they are Canadian Citizens or permanent residents.
